Kenya: Kiruru Coffee Factory, Murang'a County, Washed - Filter Roast

from $28.00

This coffee comes from Kiruru Coffee Factory in Murang’a County, Kenya, where more than 3,500 smallholder farmers deliver carefully handpicked coffee cherries throughout the harvest season. Established in 1952, Kiruru is one of several washing stations operated by the Kiru Farmers’ Cooperative Society and has long been recognised for producing exceptional Kenyan coffees.

Situated at approximately 1,800 metres above sea level, the region's rich red volcanic soils, cool temperatures, and reliable rainfall provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee. Once harvested, cherries are carefully sorted, pulped, fermented, washed, graded, and slowly dried on raised beds to develop the vibrant character Kenya is renowned for.

In the cup, expect a crisp and juicy profile with notes of red grapefruit, pineapple, and ripe yellow stone fruit. A lively lime-like acidity brings brightness and clarity, leading to a refreshing finish.

Beyond the cup, this coffee represents the collective efforts of hundreds of farming families, whose dedication helps support their households while maintaining sustainable farms.

Imported through our good friends at Condesa, who work closely with producers at origin to source exceptional coffees and showcase the unique character of each region.
